De Anza Trails is the only RV Resort in Santa Cruz Valley and for that matter, in Amado. The community is a respite from our hectic lives – a look at the past with modern conveniences. Named for a prominent Spanish pioneer family – Manual Amado – in the 1800’s, it was once a halfway station along the route that ran from Nogales to Arivaca to Tucson. With an unforgettable backdrop of towering peaks and canyons and the pine forests of the Santa Rita Mountains, the community has retained its rural/ranchland character with real cowboys and cowgirls. Today it remains a popular getaway spot thanks to the fact that the picturesque landscape is coupled with modern amenities, such as restaurants, specialty shops, a bed and breakfast, and a world-class resort and health spa. You will also find hiking trails, wildlife, horses and cattle grazing on the desert grasslands. And for those bird lovers the entire area is one of the countries top bird watching destinations with many species Along with the natural sciences and cultural history the community is home to the world-famous Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory, located atop Mount Hopkins, the second highest peak in the Santa Rita Mountains, at 9200’ elevation, right behind De Anza Trails. While you are at the visitors’ center on the mountain, explore the Native American petroglyphs discovered on the site. Although Amado and De Anza are in a rural setting they are still only 30 minutes from downtown Tucson, 30 minutes to Nogales, Mexico and in between there is the community of Green Valley and the historic artist village of Tubac, so you, the traveling RVer, will find just about anything you may need while you visiting here at De Anza Trails RV Resort with plenty to do in the surroundings.
